How did you discover HNG?

Friends (Seii^^) advised me this manga. I acknowledge I was reticent at the beginning because my knowledge of go was limited to ' Japanese game' in two letters in crosswords. I have leafed through in a bookshop, I bought and I didn't regret lol.

Who is your favorite character in HNG?

Akira! I liked it as soon as I saw him (even if his hairstyle has discountenanced me^^). He is cute, honest, talented, he has a goal and he even can be nice sometimes...

Who are the other chara you like in HNG ?

Isumi, I like him very much. I found him too insipid until the pro exam. Then, he appears different and moving
Ogata! I looove this chara ! He is a fake nice guy and I like that. He swaggers a lot but I recognize that he has the class nevertheless.
Ochi. No, I joke! lol I also like Sai (of course), Kaga, Yashiro, Yang Hai, Koyo Toya and Hikaru (and it is exceptional I like the hero of a manga)

Who are the chara you don't like in HNG ?

There is no chara I really hate... Ochi, Mashiba, Kuwabara, are certainly not the ones I prefer but I don't hate them. There is also Akari who irritate me, she is rather stupid like the girls are in shonen manga. I don't like too Mitani either.

What is your favorite passage in HNG?

There are many. There are few passages I never read again in fact.
I love when Ogata is drunk and he brings back Hikaru in his hotel room! But books 14 and 15, are strong in emotions because there is also the game between Sai and Toya Meijin we are waiting for since the beginning!!! I love this match.
Then, there is the face to face between Akira and Hikaru in book 17 where they are almost done a love declaration to each other (err... I am wandering from the point!)
And finally, the game between Hikaru and Isumi at the time of the pro exam, enormous moment of stress!!! I would have cried about it when I was watching the animated series (I know, I am a bit fragile !)

Why do you love HNG?

For many reasons. The strong attaching characters, the superb drawing, the serious (even if there are funny passages, it is serious and realistic)... but it is especially the rather exceptional quality of the scenario. I like when it is credible and coherent and in HNG, that is. We are prepared since the first chapters to what it will occur 10 books later by small indices. Brilliant!

Do you play go?

I tested, I bought myself a go-board but useless at go than me you die. I ended up having shame to loose badly on Internet (even anonymously lol) I gave up. But I recognize that it is a fascinating game!

Which are your favorite mangas?

Saint-Seiya, Naruto, Death Note, Seimaden, Nana, Ludwig II, Zetsuai, FMA…

Ikuko translated all the dojins being published on this site and knows them very well. Not yet in overdose, she even projects to buy more.

She also makes goodies and cards and she created and programmed the dollz maker. In fact, she doesn't remember of all the charas and the story to be able to write articles but sh! It shouldn't be said!

How did you discover HNG?

I discovered Hikaru no go thanks to Olessya who advised me this manga. I went to Junkudo where there was a booklet with all the new mangas and the first chapter of HNG to read. I red it and I liked Sai much... Thus I bought books!

Who is your favorite character in HNG?

Sai! He is super strong, he is beautiful, he has long hair... I find him really brilliant ! I like him so much ! * _ * Moreover, it is very moving when he disappears, I had so much sorrow he leaved so quickly.

Who are the other chara you like in HNG ?

I like Akira very much. He is very determined in his search of Sai. I like his nature. Moreover, he is cute....
I also like Kaga who plays more shogi than go but as I find him funny, I like him very much. But I love all the characters in fact... except one of them.

Who are the chara you don't like in HNG ?

Dake!! I don't like him at all even if he don't appears very often, I think he is a dirty guy! He bets money, he cheats... I hate this man !

What is your favorite passage in HNG?

I liked the pictures where Sai is with a sabre, teaches Go to Hikaru who didn't manage any more to win. I find that these pictures are very well drawn ^^ I also like when Hikaru dreams of Sai after his disappearance, it was very moving, * _ *

Why do you love HNG?

I love Hikaru no go for story really well built and also for the attaching characters and their very developed psychology. But I like HNG especially for Sai because if he did not appear in the first chapter, I think I wouldn't have bought.

Do you play go?

Then, I have a portable go-board, I've even two of them, but....... no, I don't play Go. My father explained me thousand times the rules but in vain, I still didn't understand, even after having read all the HNG and many other books about Go. I shouldn't really be made for the go, therefore I released the business, lol

Saint Seiya, B'T X, Naruto, Death Note, Mangas from Clamp, Papuwa, ...

Ses méfaits sur HNG world:

Seiiruika s'occupe des rubriques sérieuses sur ce site (car c'est une fille sérieuse).

Elle a rédigé de nombreuses bios rigoureuses, l'histoire du Japon ainsi que la chronologie très précise. Par malchance, elle se débrouille plutôt bien en anglais et va avoir énromément de travail dans les mois qui viennent...

Elle aimerait bien que le site devienne plus sérieux, qu'on y corrige les fautes d'orthographe et qu'on y parle enfin de go (car c'est la seule qui sache vraiment y jouer) et d'Histoire du Japon.

Comment as-tu découvert HNG?

Par hasard sur le net... J'ai vu quelques illustrations, mais sans plus. Puis j'ai réellement découvert Hikaru no go dans un article d'animeland qui m'a vraiment donné envie de lire ce manga qui n'était pas encore traduit en français. J'ai d'abord lu la traduction anglaise jusqu'au 19ème volume...

Quel est ton personnage préféré dans HNG?

Saeki-san!! Je le trouve intéressant. Je pense qu'il est l'exemple parfait du joueur de go moyen qui qui progresse, tout en aidant les autres, surtout Hikaru qu'il considère comme un petit frère ;) En plus, il est mignon, ce qui ne gâche rien ;)

Quels sont les autres personnages que tu aimes dans HNG?

Sai,car il est très attachant et complexe. Son évolution est en parallèle avec celle d'Hikaru. Et franchement, être possédé par un tel esprit ne me dérangerait pas lol
Isumi calme et intéressant, ses déboires en font un personnages très intéressant. Personnage au départ secondaire, il devient très vite un des principaux acteurs et apparemment les auteurs n'avaient pas prévu un tel succès pour lui :)
Akira rival de Hikaru, sûr de lui et areogant, il peut changer de comportement vis à vis de certaines personnes. Ce trait de caractère en fait un personnage complexe et insaisissable. Sa quête de Sai est notre quête en fait. Si je m'identifie à Hikaru pour le go et son initiation, je m'identifie à Akira pour la recherche de la vérité et son propre moi.
Kurata. Personnage loufoque mais néanmoins averti et sérieux, il me touche beaucoup.
J'en aime beaucoup d'autres, mais en faire la liste serait trop fastidieux...

Quels sont les persos que tu n'aimes pas dans HNG?

Kuwabara sensei. Trop arrogant et horripilant. Il me fait bondir. Il devrait laisser la place aux jeunes. Mais je pense que c'est un clin d'oeil des auteurs pour deux références du go. Tout d'abord le roman de Kuwabara Yasunari 'Le tournoi' et secondement, une référence indirecte à Shusaku Honinbo qui s'appelait avant de prendre son nom, Kuwabara ^_-
Ochi. Un second Kuwabara en plus petit et moins teigneux. Sa suffisance m'horripile aussi lorsqu'il perd et qu'il s'enferme dans les toilettes, je suis toujours très contente!!! Horrible Seii...
Enfin il y a Mashiba. Je ne peux pas le voir et franchement je suis très heureuse qu'on ne le voit pas souvent ;P

Ta scène, ton passage favori dans HNG?

Une seule? Mais c'est la mort que tu me proposes là!!! J'en ai deux ex-aequo....
La première c'est lorsque Hikaru découvre un kifu de Shusaku et réalise combien Sai était un génie et qu'il supplie les dieux de lui ramener Sai.
La seconde c'est lorsque Hikaru jouant contre Isumi se rend compte que Sai qu'il a tant cherché se trouve en fait dans son go.

Pourquoi aimes-tu HNG?

Ce que j'aime... Beaucoup de choses. Tout d'abord l'histoire, qui bien que très shonen est beaucoup plus réaliste que les autres shonen traitant de sport. Le réalisme de l'histoire. Les personnages grandissent et ne sont pas invincibles. Ils évoluent et la psychologie très détaillée des personnages est le point fort de ce manga. Le dessin est très agréable et surtout, on a un instantané de la vie quotidienne japonaise. Enfin, le manga peut nous communiquer la passion du go. Je suis tombée dans le piège.
