From the begining of the Manga,we heard many times about Kurata, the young and talented player Hikaru was linked to but we have to wait the 13th tome to discover Kurata in flesh and bones (and especially in flesh to tell the truth). But our waiting was reward! Kurata is the sexiest character in the Manga. Err… That's true! I'm joking. However he is still a funny and unforgettable person.

A calculation genius.

Kurata is an intuitive player who found himself a late passion for the game of go. Only two years after having discovered this game, he became pro and had a fast progression. Despite his low level in dan, he already takes part in the most famous tournament and is noted by his good results in the international tournaments.

However, Kurata didn't come to go by chance. Before that, he was interested by horses racing in spite of his young age which forbidden him to beat money.

Extremely talented in probability calculations, he was often succeed in predicting races results.

Rather childish.

Kurata is a sympathetic and very popular player. He loves himself and likes signing autograph. He is also quite ambitious. He hopes he will win a title soon.

He gets on with everybody and if he says he fears Akira Toya in Japan, his biggest rival is korean An Taeson.

If Kurata seems to like Hikaru, that's perhaps because the young boys isn't more mature than him (and that's they are alike). Kurata likes childish quarrel with Korean players.

Apart from the go, Kurata has another centre of interest: eating ! To celebrate a victory, or to compensate when he lost, he always has a good reason to sit down at the table.
