Ichiryu is one of this secondarys characters who have presence, even if we don't se him very often in the manga. However, this growing double of Mister Proper draws immediately the attention of the others. But, under this joviality, there is an other man that the other uncover little by little.

An incorrigible talkative.

Ichiryu is a very good pro player. He has one of the most captivating title, he is Kisei, he considers Toya Koyo like THE adversary. Stumpy, straightforward, bald, he seems to be a good living. Thanks to the fan that he always has with him, we can see his mood.

In the mean time, Ichiryu has a big lack: it's a talkative. When it's professional or privat, he has to talk. He doesn't know to check himself, he knows all the gossips. If someone want to spread a new, he can easily appeal to Ichiryu.

A modern man.

Contraryly to Toya Koyo, Ichiryu doesn't wear a Hakama and a Kimono. He prefers the suit of clothes like Kuwabara-Sensei, he shows like this that he lives in the present. Moreover, at the opposite of the others players who have the same age, he invest himself in news technologys. We can see that he doesn't have any problem with computers. He plays often on the web and it's thanks to this that he teachs to the others that the Meijin plays also on web. The web is also a way for him to uncover the last gossips and to let out them. So,he is one of these who think that it's because of his defeat against an amateur that the Meijin has take his retreat.

Ichiryu's temper volume to in succession of his apparition in the manga. He is a jovial man at the beggining, but after, we discover a very proud man. His flight during his game against Toya Akira prove how he is self-sufficient.

In spite of this lack, Ichiryu is a man who observes with slight his adversarys and analyse their weaknesses with a redoubtable sharpness. The defeat against Akira was the result of the bad appraisal of the talent of the young player.
