Bio : Hiroyuki ASHIWARA

Ashiwara Ashiwara is one of the young members of the Touya Meijin's Study Sessions. We just see him a few times in the whole manga. We met him, as he was waiting to see Akira's New First Dan Series. While the other members of Study Session are concerned about Shindo's presence, he isn't, as if he didn't even know anything about Akira's rival.

The looser of the Meijin's Study Sessions.

With people like, Seiji Ogata, Akira Toya and Koyo Toya, it's rather difficult to have a good place. Ashiwara is a quite good professional but far to be as good as the main players of the Study Session. That's why the Meijin himself critisizes him very often.

At the Go Salon, Miss Ichikawa, often makes fun of him, even saying that if Ashiwara was able to pass the pro exam, it's going to be a piece of cake for Akira to pass it. We can see as highly they think of him.

On the other hand, it isn'tthe case out of the Toya clan! Morishita constantly puts his pupil Saeki in competition with Ashiwara even if this one doesn't seem to realize it.

Akira's best friend.

No ! It's not Hikaru, or Ochi ! (lol)

Once, Ashiwara tells that Akira has only adult friends, and that he's the youngest of them… (The other ones are probably not Akira's friends…)

With Ashiwara, it seems that Akira feels more relaxed, and likes Ashiwara's jokes…

Ashiwara is a little like a big brother for Akira, and doesn't hesitate to give Akira some moral lessons. Besides, it's Ashiwara who realizes at first, that Akira needs a rival in order to motivate himself.

The Manga's Awkward

That's what makes him nice to us. Ashiwara is usually naive and says what the other people guess it's better to be thought. It makes Akira laughing and then Ashiwara becomes ashamed. He's a nice guy, friendly, modest , having a true sense of humour.
